Intel partners with Mojiva?s mOcean to power in-app advertising

Mojiva Inc.?s mobile ad-serving platform mOcean Mobile will deliver in-application ads for the Intel AppUp center.

The initial phase is focused on the more than 70 million Intel Atom processor-based netbooks currently in market, with the goal of helping AppUp developers to deliver more compelling, free applications to consumers while earning revenue from ads served within those applications. The platform also offers advertisers the opportunity to develop more engaging advertising creative by taking advantage of ad units on the larger netbook screens.

?Intel is obviously a chip company, and it has always done a wonderful job accommodating the market there,? said Dave Gwozdz, CEO of Mojiva, New York. ?It saw an opportunity for netbooks and tablets to get more involved in the mobile advertising game.

?A precedent has been set for hardware manufacturers getting into the ad game with mobile devices, Apple of course, but Intel saw the possibility that controlling the experience on netbooks and tablets could be a good app environment and that the apps could be monetized via advertising,? he said.

?Intel is going to be working with developers to develop some great content, some great apps, and what?s instrumental is figuring out how advertising helps developers?we?re committed to making sure developers make money.?

Mojiva?s mOcean Mobile is an independent mobile ad serving and analytics platform, currently managing billions of ads for mobile Web sites, ad networks and applications.

Intel AppUp center
Geared towards the tech-savvy consumer market, the Intel AppUp center is a secure, one-stop hub for finding, choosing, downloading and managing netbook applications across categories such as entertainment, games and utilities.

The Intel AppUp center is available at http://www.appup.com and from electronics retailers including Best Buy, Dixons in Britain, Croma in India and the upcoming launch of computer manufacturer Asustek.

Mr. Gwozdz said that for too long now the industry has been witnessing legions of great applications that have failed to generate sustainable revenue based primarily on the structure of the store and limited ad delivery platform.

MOcean Mobile?s ad serving platform is designed to give developers more control of ad revenue.

There is a wide range of ad units available to Intel AppUp advertisers that are designed to increase user engagement, direct response and ongoing interest in the advertiser?s brand.

In addition to standard graphical banners, several rich media options will be available.

This open and unrestricted application exchange can help bring together the talents of agencies, marketers and brands.

?Bigger screens make the apps and in-app ad experiences more compelling,? Mr. Gwozdz said. ?With the exception of 1 or 2 percent of app developers, nobody is making money on developing apps, whether they are paid or ad-supported.

?Intel?s revenue share is in line with trying to help developers make as much money as possible,? he said. ?Intel chose mOcean to provide developers with the most control over the advertising experience?we?re enabling true developer control over monetizing their apps through advertising, and showing them how to sell it and how to help others sell it for them.

?Intel has the developers? back on this much more than any other app center previously.?
