As more marketers and retailers incorporate mobile into their multichannel plans and more consumers engage with content, marketing and commerce on their mobile devices, increased scrutiny and expectations are likely to result.

In this free, hour-long webinar on Thursday, May 20 at 2 p.m. ET, Anheuser-Busch's top distributor and key officials from the Mobile Marketing Association will outline the five factors that could propel the use of mobile. Sponsored by the MMA, the webinar will also offer the case study and tips on how to craft mobile tactics and strategies that help with branding and customer acquisition and retention.

?This webinar, like its predecessors, is designed to illustrate to marketers and retailers how responsible and ethical mobile marketing can win new customers and retain existing clients,? said Mickey Alam Khan, editor of Mobile Marketer and Mobile Commerce Daily.

?Mobile?s key benefit ? global reach, local relevance ? and its sustained use in programs versus simply one-off campaigns is what will determine future relations between brands and consumers in this decade and beyond,? he said.

This webinar is part of a monthly series run by this publication. The previous webinar on April 28 focused on mobile coupons (see story).

?Our goal is to help crystallize people?s ideas of what mobile marketing is, how they can be successful with it and where it can be applied,? said Michael Becker, North America managing director for the MMA.

?We want to give marketers an update on the current state of the mobile marketing industry to demonstrate how to be successful and to give them actual takeaways to implement their consumer engagement strategy,? he said.

Five factors
The current webinar has five themes:

1. Trends in consumer adoption of next-generation devices and rich media
2. The case study: Mobile as the centerpiece of a brand?s strategy and how the medium is a successful tool for engagement with the consumer
3. A review of the MMA standards, guidelines and regulations
4. Global reach, local relevance: Mobile?s unique selling proposition
5. Mobile as a strategy: How to get started, with tactical and strategic advice for campaigns and programs

Bill Gieseking, marketing director at Anheuser-Busch distributor Pepin, will talk about the brewer's experience with mobile marketing and what he sees down the road. Adz2Mobile is helping Pepin with its mobile marketing program.

The MMA?s Mr. Becker, also a cofounder of mobile marketing specialist iLoop Mobile, will provide insight and analysis for mobile marketing first-steps and trends.

Mr. Becker?s colleagues, MMA Europe managing director Paul Berney and MMA director of industry initiatives and partnerships Kristine van Dillen, will support with valuable inputs on best practice and guidelines.

Mickey Alam Khan, editor in chief of Mobile Marketer and Mobile Commerce Daily, will moderate.

Forum for learning
The webinar comes a couple of weeks before the MMA?s June 7-9 Mobile Marketing Forum conference at New York?s Waldorf=Astoria Hotel.

The largest annual gathering of mobile marketers, the forum this year has a speaker roster comprising executives from Eastman Kodak, Hewlett-Packard, Google, Yahoo, MTV, Best Buy, Coca-Cola, Ogilvy & Mather, Carlson Marketing and the United Nations Foundation?s mHealth Alliance.

Mobile Marketer readers who attend the May 20 webinar and request the presentation will get a special discount for the Mobile Marketing Forum on June 7-9.

Like the show, this webinar is intended to educate marketers on the ins and outs of mobile marketing.

?Over the last few years, we?ve established a solid foundation for the practice of mobile marketing,? Mr. Becker said.

?Going forward, marketers are moving their mobile marketing budget out of R&D and experimentation into their mainline marketing because it works,? he said.
