Yellow Pages Group iPad app creates opportunity for advertisers

Yellow Pages Group is giving advertisers the opportunity to connect with consumers via its new iPad application.

The application was created to provide Canadians with access to local business information. In addition, the application comes on the heels of its YellowPages.ca mobile application, which has reached one million downloads.

?Our strategy is to provide mobile local search solutions to Canadian consumers across a variety of mobile platforms, including the iPad,? said Perry Schwartz, senior manager of communications for Yellow Pages Group, Canada.

?This ensures that Yellow Pages Group is on the cutting edge of local search, both for advertisers and consumers,? he said. ?Even more notably those small and medium-sized businesses who have adopted mobile and social in their marketing platforms.

?We?re also meeting the needs of an increasingly more mobile consumer base that is harder than ever for traditional advertising to reach ? we go where they are.?

Yellow Pages Group is Canada?s media and marketing services company that brings consumers and businesses together via its network of print, digital and mobile properties.

Users can browse video clips on a merchant?s page, when available, as well as look up businesses or people.

In addition, users can search by proximity and view expanded details on businesses that include display ad information.

?The target demographic is Canadian consumers who use mobile on-the-go, as well as business and vacation travelers who come to Canada and need local business and service info at their fingertips,? Mr. Schwartz said.

?The iPad application will bring an added value and mileage from YellowPages.ca advertisement investment, access to a larger audience,? he said. ?Business information is accessible from anywhere and at anytime.

?This will prove to be a very interesting medium in the future for our advertisers to talk to their consumers, but will always be free to the user.?

Additionally, users can share listing results to others via email.

The company claims it is the first Canadian local commercial search provider to build and customize an application for the iPad.

?Yellow Pages Group is strongly investing in mobile in the Canadian market, all for the benefit of our advertisers,? Mr. Schwartz said. ?On the consumer side, in addition to the present suite of iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry and Android applications available we continue to develop new local search and information access mobile applications.

?On the developer side, YPG partners with the top LBS and local search applications in North America,? he said.
