Mobile advertising to play big role at International CTIA Wireless show

It is only about a week before tens of thousands of wireless industry executives descend on Las Vegas to place a bet on mobile's growth at the CTIA Wireless show.

The mobile lifestyle is the underlying theme of this March 23-25 show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Expect to see manufacturers, service providers, mobile marketers and brands, wireless data and Internet companies ? any company who values the excitement, efficiency, convenience and immediacy of mobile.

?I think the biggest thing attendees will learn is that we have reached a critical mass in mobile advertising as mobile is becoming a larger part of media buys,? said Jeff Simmons, director of technology programs at the CTIA. ?Mobile is the place where most of the attention will be for 2010.

?Technology has been promoting this medium for some time and we are now seeing that the marketer and the brand are finally seeing the value,? he said.

The International CTIA Wireless show is the premier wireless event representing a $1 trillion global marketplace that brings together the wireless and converged communications, wireless broadband, mobile Web computing and data industries.

International CTIA Wireless is where the wireless world meets each year for three days of intense business, learning and networking.

Before the show starts on March 23, there is some great stuff going on regarding mobile marketing.

On March 22, from 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM there will be a Mobile Marketing and Advertising special interest seminar.

The keynote will be lead by Diana Pouliot, director of mobile advertising at Google.

The session titled, ?Mobile-ize Your Business: Opportunity on the Mobile Web,? will concentrate on the fact that mobile Web users are increasingly using their mobile devices to search and consume content, while mobile phones continue to enable this shift with more processing power, storage and higher bandwidth.

Ms. Pouliot will get specific on how this evolving landscape is driving consumer mobile Web usage in new ways, which in turn creates exciting opportunities for advertisers and content owners.

CTIA is doing something a little different at this year?s show. To help attendees stay on the know, the CTIA has introduced its very own mobile application.

?This year we are focusing on a mobile application specifically built for the show,? Mr. Simmons said. ?It was developed for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.

?Mobile was the obvious solution here and I think in the past year alone we have seen so many trends point to the fact that mobile is a big business.?
