CinemaNow goes mobile

CinemaNow and uVuMobile have integrated their technologies to offer a WAP site that lets consumers preview movie trailers and remotely download full-length movies to compatible consumer electronic devices directly from mobile phones.

Users will have the option to preview high-quality trailers prior to purchase from CinemaNow's library of 10,000 movies, television shows and music videos. In addition, they can go directly to http://mobile.cinemanow.com to buy a full-length version of the movie right from the mobile phone and download it to any of CinemaNow's Media Manager-enabled connected devices, including PCs, digital TV sets, portable media players, set-top boxes and network attached storage devices.

"It's really if you look at cinema now and its product, they are all about convenience," said Scott Hughes, chief technology officer of uVuMobile. "It could take a long time to browse and download a movie and you can browse on-the-go and have it ready to go once you get there."

The CinemaNow WAP service is a combination of uVuMobile's Media Distribution Platform and CinemaNow's digital entertainment distribution technology.

UVuMobile's Media Distribution Platform enables content owners to publish their content to mobile users on any carrier network and to multiple types of compatible devices.

The CinemaNow WAP service allows online retailers to expand their delivery options.

"This mobile initiative is an extension of CinemaNow's existing services," Mr. Hughes said.

"As of now, there are now advertising opportunities here, but we expect there will be more in the future," he said. "For phase one it's more of an extension of what we provide online."
