AAA, Sprint reward consumers with mobile offers

Motor and travel organization AAA is continuing its partnership with Sprint to offer consumers mobile deals for signing up for its programs.

Consumers can get deals on Sprint handset activations as part of AAA?s Show Your Card and Save program. Subscribers also get free access to the company?s FindMe service.

?We are developing strategy and products mindful that not all members want the same product? said Heather Hunter, public relations manager at AAA, Heathrow, FL.

?We?re targeting multiple market segments - app users, wireless browser users and the segment that doesn?t want a smartphone, but wants to know that when they call us from their cell phone, we can locate them - AAA FindMe was launched for this segment,? she said.

Sprint is a wireless carrier, serving more than 52 million customers.

AAA is a motor and travel company that helps more than 52 million members with travel, financial and car services.

Mobile incentives
With the new mobile initiative, AAA members can receive a 10 percent, monthly recurring discount on select Sprint plans.

Members can also waive the activation fee for setting up new Sprint plans.

Additionally, consumers are eligible for a $50 credit for AAA online purchases.

?When participating members use their GPS-equipped Sprint cell phone to call for roadside assistance, location data is captured from the carrier and provided to AAA,? Ms. Hunter said.

?This does not require an app or a wireless browser and is free,? she said.

Additionally, users can dial *AAA on their phones for direct assistance.

Mobile assistance
This is not AAA?s first foray into mobile.

AAA is known for being a company that strives to help consumers in a moment of need, which makes mobile an ideal area to tap into with multiple offerings.

The company also has a mobile Web site and offers its services on select Magellan GPS devices.

Additionally, the company offers three iPhone and two Android apps all with the goal to make consumers? lives easier on the road.

The company is famous for their AAA Discounts app, which reported a high number of downloads two years ago (see story).

Additionally, AAA tapped into service-related requests with an Android app that lets consumers calculate the cost of new car batteries while on the go (see story).

?AAA is continuing to meet member demand for more AAA travel information, fuel price information and access to services on the go,? Ms. Hunter said.

?Suffering from car trouble is bad enough, but it can be made worse when you?re in an unfamiliar location and have trouble relaying to AAA where to send assistance,? she said.

?AAA Find Me assists AAA members by providing AAA emergency service operators with stranded motorists? GPS locations so roadside technicians can locate and assist them.?
