Peace is breaking out in the smartphone patent wars. The Rockstar Consortium, a joint venture owned by Apple, Microsoft, BlackBerry, Ericsson and Sony, recently settled patent suits it had brought against Google and Cisco.

It?s a sad day for Aereo and all those who believed in it. The startup, which allowed people to stream live broadcast television to their computers and mobile devices, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, just months after shutting down operations.

T-Mobile US Inc., the wireless carrier that drew unsuccessful bids from Sprint Corp. and Iliad SA this year, remains an attractive asset for other potential suitors, according to its owner Deutsche Telekom AG. Companies that could seek to control the fourth-largest U.S. mobile-phone company include Comcast Corp., America Movil SAB and Dish Network Corp., Deutsche Telekom Chief Executive Officer Timotheus Hoettges said in an interview yesterday. ?

Online retailer Amazon.com Inc will release a new ad-supported video streaming service early next year, the New York Post reported, citing sources. The service will be separate from the company's $99-a-year Prime membership, which includes a video service, the Post reported.
