Hoover's goes mobile

Hoover's Inc. a provider of global business information and tools, has launched a mobile version of its site called Hoover's Mobile and a browser-based application called Hoover's MobileSP.

Customers who typically use Hoovers.com to identify and evaluate potential sales leads or markets can now use mobile devices to access, sort and synchronize millions of company records on-the-go. Both products are available to existing Hoover's subscribers supporting iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphones.

"We want this launch, as well as our other planned Mobile and Web 2.0 offerings, to support and strengthen our value proposition, which is that Hoover's is the fastest path to business," said David Mather, president of Hoovers, Austin, TX.

"We want to make sure that we deliver on the promise of being the easiest and most flexible vendor to work with; that we give customers the most complete, accurate, and relevant information; and that we integrate into the tools our customers prefer to use," he said.

"We expect this mobile product line will extend this promise to customers with an additional set of tools that help Hoover's become an integral part of their daily professional lives."

Business professionals on the road, in the airport or at a tradeshow can now integrate with other key features such as GPS custom location, radius search and custom call queue abilities.

Throughout the beta period Hoover's will collect subscriber feedback and suggestions for additional mobile content and features, and will work to expand its mobile functionality based upon that feedback.

"As economic pressures continue, our customers want increasing value for their money and there is an increasing trend toward greater efficiency in terms of the tools and processes for data gathering and updating information," Mr. Mather said.

"We developed Hoover's Mobile and Hoover's MobileSP for two audiences -- the increasing number of business professionals who use mobile technology as their primary tool, and road warriors who need the right information at the right time to gain a competitive edge and get business done," he said.

Hoover's, a D&B company, provides its customers insightful information about companies, industries and key decision makers, along with the powerful tools to find and connect to the right people to get business done.

Hoover's provides this information for sales, marketing, business development and other professionals who need intelligence on U.S. and global companies, industries and the people who lead them.

"Our close communications with customers have revealed the ongoing need for tools that fit into their day-to-day work schedules and workflows," Mr. Mather said. "We realize that many of our customers aren't tethered to their desks in the workplace, so if we can provide pervasive access to reliable and relevant information when they're on-the-go, that's very valuable to them."
