Mobile Minutes: Google+; Moto X and G; Mobile management software; Mobile marketing?s breakthrough

It?s been a slow death, but the mourning may now commence. Google put the final nail in the coffin of its ambition to make Google+ a real competitor to Facebook, Twitter and other leading social networks.

On Tuesday at a trio of press conferences in New York City, London, and Sao Paolo, Motorola announced major updates to its line of Android smartphones. Both the flagship Moto X and lower priced Moto G received overhauls, the first since Motorola was acquired by Lenovo from Google in October 2014. 

Sales of mobile management software will grow at a slower pace over the next few years but will still top $2.9 billion in 2019, according to IDC?s latest forecast. The projected annual sales growth by multiple enterprise mobility management software vendors globally will slide from last year's 27 percent growth rate to a projected annual increase of less than 10 percent in 2019, IDC said in this month's forecast.

Google?s bullish commentary about its Q2 mobile business?respectable ad growth and accelerating video viewership on the go?wasn?t exactly a big surprise. After all, one commonly cited forecast suggests that mobile gadgets could be the focus for 72 percent of all digital ad spending by 2019.
