Mobile Minutes: Google?s commerce chief; Europe ends roaming charges; Samsung?s 18.4-inch tablet; Mobile search start-up

Ahead of the holiday shopping season, Google is opening up about its philosophy on ecommerce, mobile shopping, and bricks-and-mortar retailing.

The European Parliament on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly in favor of regulations that would enshrine net neutrality into law while eradicating mobile roaming charges across the continent. The move comes despite strong opposition to the legislation from privacy advocates, companies like Netflix and the inventor of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee. 

If bigger truly is better, Samsung has just taken the wraps off the best tablet we may have ever seen. Its name is the Galaxy View and this hefty goliath has a whopping 18.4-inch display. 

In a deal that has become Silicon Valley lore, Vinod Khosla, a co-founder of Sun Microsystems and later a venture capitalist, reached an agreement to buy a search engine called Google when it was still basically a research project.
