Mozilla confirmed Tuesday that it was halting development on Firefox OS in its current incarnation, putting an end to more than four years of work building a browser-based, smartphone operating system.

Smartphones could be obsolete in five years' time, according to consumers polled in a new survey.

Uber Technologies Inc. has stopped its auto rickshaw-hailing service in Delhi just seven months into the ride because of problems that have prevented a wider roll out, the company said.
