ComedyTime launches daily jokes for iPhone users

ComedyTime, a mobile comedy network, has partnered with Zannel to create the first standup comedy video application available on the iPhone.

The Joke-A-Day application provides iPhone users with on-the-go entertainment featuring ComedyTime's top standup comedians and their "Funnysodes" -- original short-form episodic programming. Every day, users' iPhones will buzz as the video joke of the day is delivered to their phone.

"We noticed the lack of good comedy video applications for iPhone so we saw an opportunity to provide users with the first comedy video application," said Adam Zbar, CEO of Zannel, San Francisco. "The standup comedy shorts are a perfect form for Zannel technology and provide close-ups for viewers to see the comedian."

Zannel claims it is the mobile industry's first Instant Media Network, which allows people to instantly and visually communicate what's happening across mobile and the Web, including all major social networks.

ComedyTime produces short-form video content for mobile, broadband, cable and broadcast television. The content is currently available on-deck with Sprint, Verizon and other leading North American carriers.

The application lets viewers instantly comment and discuss performances in real-time.

Zannel stands for "zillions of channels." The company enables major media brands, independent artists, and other content providers to mobilize, monetize, syndicate and build a community around their content on mobile and the Web.

Anyone can create a channel at Zannel.com to instantly see and share what's going on through video, pictures and text-message updates.

"Hopefully, we want to lighten up the mood," Mr. Zbar said. "Entertainment always does well during hard times.

"We hope to brighten up people's days with Joke-A-Day," he said.
