AccuWeeather.com delivers acurate and up-to-date weather on the mobile Web
The sun shone on AccuWeather.com's mobile site last month.
The site posted 32,760,743 page impressions in February, beating the previous record of 31,643,961 set in January, according to AccuWeather.
"The news here is that weather is incredibly popular on the mobile Web," said Justin Roberti, director of communications for AccuWeather.com. "Weather is the must-have mobile content for ubiquitous and traveling users and it's only going to get bigger. Weather is a key piece of content that helps you run your life."
The mobile site also set a new record for daily impressions with 1,792,492 on Feb. 12, beating the previous record of 1,527,102 set on Feb. 5.
AccuWeather.com is rated as one of the top 10 mobile brands. It has been providing people on-the-go with weather updates since 1997.
The company recently released a new version of the mobile site, enhanced with severe weather warnings, AccuWeather 15-Day and Hour-by-Hour local forecasts, weather news and blogs.
"I think that we are ending up with the same arch as the development of traditional Internet had," Mr. Roberti said. "We are a way for people to access information that helps run their lives and gives them a sense of self-empowerment.
"Additionally, I think people get hooked on availability of information," Mr. Roberti said. "Once you get that info you want more and more so you know what to wear and where to go."
Mr. Roberti said that mapping, news, weather and stocks will always be at the forefront of the mobile Web because it is the information that we need to help us know how to plan our days.
The AccuWeather.com mobile site is ad-supported and is second to Yahoo in terms of number of advertisers, the company claims.
"We are proud to be a leader in ad-supported content," Mr. Roberti said. "Ad-supported content will drive adoption of the mobile Web."
