World Wildlife Fund Canada mobile app exceeds 10K downloads

Nonprofit World Wildlife Fund Canada's mobile application exceeded 10,000 downloads since its launch in November.

The application lets users browse information on conservation success, stories and videos and details on upcoming events in Canada, as well as around the world. The application is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Windows Phone 7 devices.

?WWF Canada has a mandate of reaching 1 million Canadians over the next five years and delivering their message,? said Kunal Gupta, CEO of Polar Mobile, Toronto.

?Partnering with Polar, we feel that mobile will be one part of their 1 million goal and we are on a good start,? he said.

WWF-Canada is a member of WWF, one of the world?s largest independent conservation organizations, active in more than 100 countries.

Polar Mobile lets businesses extend their presence across mobile devices by leveraging a proprietary software platform.

Mobile importance
Users can read important WWF-related news feeds such as media releases and blog and Twitter posts via the application.

WWF-Canada claims to be the first nonprofit organization in Canada to use Polar Mobile?s technology to develop a smartphone application.

?The apps are meant to build brand awareness and showcase the organization as a thought-leader in the areas of environment protection and wildlife conservation,? Mr. Gupta said.
