News on money moves
The Money Channel and AskMeNow have partnered to deliver financial information such as stock quotes to users on their mobile phones.
The fully-automated mobile service will give The Money Channel’s audience, comprised of financial industry investors, consumers and insiders, access to business, stock market and economic news, stock quotes and up-to-the-minute corporate announcements. Users can also build their own unique portfolio of stock quotes, which can be accessed from mobile phones.
“As mobile data usage increase, there is a huge market for information to be distributed to people and for content providers to monetize on it,” said Grant Cohen, director of business development at AskMeNow.
The financial information portal will also be offered to AskMeNow’s existing mobile user base and through its network of carrier distribution partners across the United States and Canada.
The portal is free to use. Revenue will be generated through advertising placed on the site. Users will be able to send SMS queries and get customizable stock quote alerts scheduled on the companies they are watching closest.
MoneyChannel Mobile can be accessed on any mobile Web-enabled phone by visiting http://money.askmenow.com or by texting the keyword MONEY to the U.S. short code 27563 (ASKME).
“The money channel has big radio presence and these people are very much on-the-go, so this mobile initiative is meant to be helpful,” Mr. Cohen said. “Our mobile and the financial portal will have banner and text ads.”
