OrganizedWisdom turns to mobile to keep users informed on health issues

OrganizedWisdom is offering mobile health applications as an ongoing initiative to connect users with health and wellness information.

The company partnered with Xtify to build a series of mobile health applications. The first application, Healthy Bites, will deliver nutritious eating notifications from health experts directly to consumers.

?By connecting the mobile phones of people interested in specific health and wellness information with the wisdom of vetted health practitioners, the ongoing initiative aims to close the online health gap ? the scary space that exists between a doctor visit and the Internet where people are left alone with an empty search box and millions of computer-generated results,? said Unity Stoakes, cofounder and president of OrganizedWisdom, New York.

?Health practitioners who once were too busy, inexperienced or afraid to share their expertise online, now actively tweet, share links on Facebook, write for online medical journals, engage on Q&A sites or contribute to online health sites,? he said.

?OrganizedWisdom mobile harnesses this shared wisdom of vetted health experts by packaging it into topical mobile applications.?

OrganizedWisdom collects, organizes and promotes online wisdom shared across the Web by more than 5,000 vetted health and wellness experts.

Xtify provides mobile technology that helps brand marketers and content publishers deliver information to their mobile customers based on preferences, behaviors and real-time physical locations.

The Healthy Bites application is currently available on Android devices and the company plans to launch on other smartphone platforms soon.

Additionally, similar applications relating to health conditions such as exercise, diabetes, weight loss, heart health and healthy diets will be launched in the coming months.

?We envision users reading expert-curated wisdom in relevant health issue topics via their smartphones when en route to the doctor, standing in a pharmacy, or grocery shopping, among other daily activities,? Mr. Stoakes said.

Users can get expert advice

Via the Healthy Bites application, users can browse news and helpful links that are shared by physicians, nutritionists and other top health experts.

?Imagine how much more confident you would feel entering your cardiologist appointment, with a pocket-size article suggesting alternative heart-healthy treatments, shared by a well-known doctor across the country,? Mr. Stoakes said.

?Or, consider browsing supermarket aisles with OrganizedWisdom's Healthy Bites mobile app, which features nutritious tips and research shared by the best health experts online in this field,? he said.
