Verizon uses Limbo Show for V Cast promo

Limbo iPhone app leads to 500,000 new members

Jonathon Linner, co-founder/CEO of Limbo

Mobile entertainment community Limbo is giving its consumers a chance to win prizes every day from The Limbo Show, launched by Verizon in March on the telecoms giant’s V Cast mobile video platform.

In just six months, more than 170 people have been awarded more than $40,000 in prizes, with more winnings planned for this quarter. During Vegas Week, V Cast viewers will have the opportunity to win a VIP trip to Las Vegas from sponsor Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, including prizes such as tickets to Cory Hart's Wasteland -- Hard Rock's newest club opening next year.

“The Limbo Show was designed to create original, compelling content for Verizon Wireless’ V Cast mobile video platform,” said Jonathon Linner, co-founder/CEO of Limbo, Burlingame, CA. “In addition to positioning Verizon as an innovative wireless provider, V Cast is an additional source of revenue for Verizon above and beyond the traditional mobile phone subscriptions.”

The Limbo Show airs weekdays except Wednesdays on V Cast from Verizon Wireless. Viewers can watch and play along with daily games to win prizes such as digital cameras, handsets and gift cards. A weeklong game starts each Wednesday and features major prizes such as an HDTV set, a trip to Ireland and weekend getaways to see exclusive concerts.

The Limbo Show is available to Verizon Wireless customers at no additional charge with any V Cast subscription. Customers can sign up at http://products.vzw.com//index.aspx?id=mobileTV. By signing up, users get unlimited basic video. However, application download fees apply for 3D games and premium video. There are no airtime or megabyte charges to download, stream or watch V Cast content with any V Cast subscription.

Verizon and Limbo have partnered on previous programs, including the Party on the Pearl for the release of the Pirates of Caribbean: At World’s End movie this past summer.

“The major challenge is educating people about the additional services available to them beyond voice,” Mr. Linner said. “Therefore, by creating excitement around special programming like The Limbo Show, we can encourage sampling and then subscription.”
