Olympic Paints simplifies paint color choices for consumers

Olympic Paints is looking to simplify the painting process for consumers via a mobile application that lets them manage their painting projects.

The ColorClix mobile app lets consumers find color inspiration by snapping a photo with their smartphone, selecting any color displayed and matching it to one of more than 1,200 Olympic paint colors. The application is available for iPhone and Android devices.

?Most importantly we wanted to help consumers gain the confidence that they tell us they desperately need when choosing color,? said Jennifer Dodson, senior marketing manager at Olympic Paint, Pittsburgh.

?This app will help consumers gain confidence with whatever hurdle they have using color,? she said.

Olympic Paints, a brand of PPG Architectural Finishes, Inc., is a category leader in the paint segment with distribution in Lowe's, the nation's second-largest home improvement retailer.

Paint the town
The application lets consumers snap a photo and select the color they would like to match.

Customers can browse Olympic Paints? designer collections, as well as use the Color in Mind feature for those consumers that have a specific one in mind, but want to narrow down an exact shade.

?Mobile is great because it?s on trend,? Ms. Dodson said. ?Consumers can find inspiration from anywhere ? they can find it when they?re in the least likely place and we want them to be able to capture it wherever they are.

?Mobile devices are the easiest way to do that,? she said.

Color me happy
The ColorClix application also ties to the company?s online color tools, which include a downloadable desktop application that lets consumers browse the entire Olympic Paint color pallet.

Via the application, customers can virtually paint a room to see how different colors work together in a particular space.

Additionally, consumers can save their projects and share it with friends and family via email, Facebook and twitter.

The application is available for free download in Apple?s App Store and Google?s Android Market.

?We?ll be adding additional functionalities to our desktop and mobile apps,? Ms. Dodson said. ?We really want to increase consumer confidence and make it easier for them.

?ColorClix helps consumers translate anything that they get inspire by,? she said.
