Monster.com expands mobile portfolio for on-the-go job seekers

Monster Worldwide Inc.?s job-matching engine Monster.com has expanded its mobile offerings for job seekers with a new application.

Monster.com Interviews ? Tools to Ace Any Job Interview is available in the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad, with Android in the works as well. The interview-focused app from Monster.com is designed to help seekers do well at their next job interview by providing resources and a game plan.

?The Monster Interviews app is an incredibly comprehensive and data-rich app that is about providing practical advice and tips and hints and even some location-based services for anyone that has been fortunate enough to get to the next stage in the job-search process,? said Jeff Greenler, vice president of marketing at Monster.com, Maynard, MA. ?It is a pocket companion for how to nail a job interview.

?Mobile has been a great extension of a lot of the content that lives on the Monster site, which sometimes can be a bit overwhelming and tough to access,? he said. ?Our mobile apps provide a great service for people packaged in a way that is intuitive and easy to use.

?Monster Interviews features functionality I?ve never seen before, letting users do research on the companies and people you are going to meet with and save those searches for easy access.?

Monster Worldwide?s Monster is an online employment platform with a local presence in North America, Europe and Asia.

New Monster app
The Monster.com Interviews app is designed to help seekers prepare for the entire interview process, from the days leading up to the interview and the interview itself to post-interview follow-up.

This app is free and targets job-seekers looking for the tips and suggestions for putting their best foot forward during their job interview.

Job-seekers do not need to have a Monster.com account to take advantage of the application.

The app features advice and practical resources from Monster.com designed to help seekers prepare for the big day, including tips such as choosing a sharp interview outfit and interview how-to?s.

Users can also use the app to practice and record interview answers.

The application also features tools, tips, and reminders such as a mapping function to get users to, for example, a nearby coffee shop to review final details before the interview.

There is also a guide for post-interview follow-up that includes tips on post-interview thank-you etiquette and salary negotiations.

The Monster Interviews application is broken down into three sections: pre-interview, interview day and post-interview follow-up.

The Pre-Interview section is designed to help seekers prepare with tips, techniques, how-to?s and advice on conducting research, asking the right questions and follow-up etiquette.

The Interview Day section includes pre-interview research, last-minute tips, brain exercises and a search feature to help seekers find local resources such as coffee shops, cleaners and printers.

A map feature provides driving directions to the interview location.

The ?How Do I Look?? option turns front-facing camera of an iPhone 4 or iPad 2 into a mirror.

The Post-Interview section provides advice on salary negotiations and lets seekers record any thoughts and pieces of information with the ?Before I Forget?? feature and recap the meeting while it is still fresh in their mind with the ?Interview Debrief? tool.

Monster Interviews for iPhone

Mr. Greenler said that for employers looking to hire, this app will further separate potential candidates from the pack ? from those that do their homework and come prepared and those that do not.

Ultimately, Mr. Greenler said that Monster?s role is to match the best talent with the right employers, and this app helps that process along.

In addition to the Monster Interviews application, Monster.com has several other mobile apps for job seekers, including Monster.com for iPhone, Monster.com for iPad and Monster.com for Android.

?We?re trying to have synergy among the various elements of our mobile strategy, so linking back to our other apps within Monster Interviews was really important,? Mr. Greenler said. ?We offered for free, so this is our opportunity to offer a public service to our job seekers.

?In the first version, there are no ads or sponsorship, but we are exploring opportunities to do just that,? he said. ?If there are content sponsorships and advertising opportunities that would enhance the experience for our seekers, we can see synergies there.

?For example if you are a clothes manufacturer, and we have a part of the app that is dress for success, and there are opportunities to sponsor recommended coffee shops.?
