Goodyear takes print magazine to mobile before wired Web

Tire giant Goodyear has launched a mobile Web portal for its corporate print magazine Goodyear Go.

Mobile consulting and service company Mavenix and Netbiscuits helped Goodyear launch the Web site in Indonesia. Apart from featuring all of the print magazine?s articles, the mobile site will also have exclusive content through cover story videos and access to locations of Goodyear car servicing shops.

?Indonesia is one of the fastest growing mobile markets worldwide and it is remarkable that Goodyear Go magazine entered the mobile Web before considering the development of a PC Web site," said Joerg Krahnert, Singapore-based managing director at Netbiscuits.

Netbiscuits operates business-to-business Web software platforms for the creation, operation and monetization of mobile Web sites and applications. Some other companies that they have worked with are eBay, Universal Music, MTV, Ogilvy and SapientNitro.

Mavenix helps clients engage with their audience through mobile media, while also working closely with other partners as well for technology support, advertising network solution, content providers and others.

Mobile Web
The mobile Web site lets users get entertainment, driving and lifestyle content.

Consumers can also see Goodyear's picks for gadgets movies and music.

Additionally, users can view Goodyear's favorites and get full descriptions to learn more.

The Tire Service section of the site locates Goodyear car care centers.

In the Driving Experience section, consumers can get driving tips and expert advice on safety.

The cover story changes with each edition and features an in-depth article with a slideshow.

?Indonesia?s mobile device landscape shows great diversity ranging from Internet-enabled feature phones to the latest cutting edge devices,? Mr. Krahnert said. ?It is crucial for any mobile Web site to serve all those devices with the best user experience possible.

Goodyear?s mobile channel, with the help of Netbiscuits, calls for Web applications that deliver rich mobile experiences on both high-end devices and Web-enabled mass market feature phones.

?The Netbiscuits publishing platform delivers mobile Web sites optimized for over 6,000 devices worldwide,? Mr. Krahnert. ?At the same time we drive mobile user experience by exploiting the capabilities of today?s devices.?
