Teleflip introduce flipMail email to text service

If you want a way to stay up to date on emails this holiday season without being bound a computer -- or purchasing an expensive smartphone -- Teleflip has a solution for you.

Teleflip has been around since 2004 offering email to text services. Its new flipMail technology enhances this model by allowing users to filter, send and receive email on their handset by converting email into text messages.

"The holidays can be stressful enough without worrying about missed emails," said Tony Davis, CEO of Teleflip, Santa Monica, CA. "FlipMail is the perfect way to stay mobile throughout the season and all year long."

Teleflip's companion product, flipOut! lets users communicate from a computer to a mobile phone number at the Teleflip domain (e.g. ).

The only cost to users is the price of standard text messaging.

To begin using the service, a customer must register at the Teleflip Web site. Customers can create a list of senders online to eliminate email-to-text spam. Once users sign on, emails are instantly sent to their registered handset.

The service is compatible with all SMS-enabled mobile devices. It can be used on any carrier network and does not require special downloads, data plans or mobile Internet capabilities. Also, users can turn the service on or off at any time.

Teleflip's flipMail and flipOut services are currently available in the United States and Canada and will expand worldwide at the end of the year.

Though still in beta testing, the company already has plans to employ an ad-based business model for its flipMail service. The tradeoff for users of the mobile spam-deterring system will be ads at the end of each email.
