Seven, 3 push mobile email beyond smartphones

Putting smartphone technology into consumer-friendly devices, California-based email software company Seven Networks Inc. will be pre-loading its mobile email solution on an array of mobile phones for British customers.

Included in Seven's solution is the Sony Ericsson W660i offered by Hutchison 3G UK Ltd., a British mobile media company offering communications, entertainment and information.

Seven's Mobile Mail solution will provide 3G UK's 4.1 million customers in Britain and Ireland email access on the Sony Ericsson W660i. The application will be built into the messaging menu, allowing users to access their email with a few keystrokes.

3G UK's core business is communications, media and entertainment, including television, sport, music audio and video, user-generated content, computer games and media publishing.

The combination of Mobile Mail and the W660i handset is ideal for a young demographic that desires to stay connected but may not want or be able to afford a smartphone.

Furthering its appeal, the W660i also comes with a Walkman player 2.0, allowing users to create their own play lists, view original album art on their phone screen and customize their music experience. A 2-megapixel camera is part of the package.

Mobile Mail, offered with 3G UK's X-Series packages, provides users with real-time access to their email from popular services such as AOL Mail, EarthLink, Gmail and Yahoo Mail, making it easy to access mobile email as a consumer or a professional.

Seven's mobile email solution currently ships on devices by HTC, Motorola, Nokia, Palm, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, the Samsung BlackJack and the Motorola RAZR. Seven's solutions are used by more than 100 leading mobile operators worldwide including Alltel and AT&T.
