Making a song-and-dance

Exit Games has partnered with game developer and publisher Konami to provide multiplayer and support for DanceDanceRevolution on mobile phones.

Konami will integrate Exit Games’ Neutron platform to enable real-time mobile-to-mobile multiplayer capabilities. The new DanceDanceRevolution mobile game is scheduled to release in the fall of 2008.

“Exit Games is the partner of choice for Konami to deliver next-generation mobile multiplayer games and communities,” said Tom Sperry, CEO of Exit Games, Portland, OR. “Exit Games provides the Neutron platform for Konami to build mobile game titles that incorporate multiplayer, social gaming and community features.

“Such features help to add another level of fun and interactivity for players, and help to enhance the overall gaming experience and promote additional revenue streams for Konami,” he said. “The mobile device is the perfect device for enabling such features and Exit Games makes this possible.”

This is the first time that DanceDanceRevolution will appear on the mobile platform with multiplayer capabilities.

Konami is a developer, publisher and manufacturer of electronic entertainment properties. Konami's titles include Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, DanceDanceRevolution and Castlevania.

The leaderboards in DanceDanceRevolution mobile are a way for tracking and displaying players’ high scores in the game community. They will be updated in real-time, based on players’ performance in the game.

As of now, there are no plans to use the leaderboards as an avenue for advertising.

Exit Games is a platform service provider for mobile and online multiplayer games and communities. The Exit Games Neutron multiplayer platform connects service providers with users worldwide playing via mobile phone, browser and PC.

Neutron is used by leading entertainment industry customers such as Walt Disney Co., Square Enix, Taito, Konami, Vivendi Mobile, World Golf Tour, SkyZone Mobile, UIEvolution and E! Entertainment to create connected, social and community-based games and applications.

“Exit Games’ multiplayer and community gaming platform, Neutron, allows for the easy integration of back-end technology to enable real-time multiplayer gaming and a variety of community features – in this case, for DanceDanceRevolution mobile,” Mr. Sperry said.

“It also addresses the challenge of deployment across the wide variety of platforms regardless of mobile device and network operators such as AT&T Wireless, Sprint PCS and Verizon Wireless,” he said. “This allows Konami to focus on creating great and creative titles while Exit Games focuses on the platform for them to build it on.”
