BlackBerry vows to keep corporate data safe for iOS, Android devices

SAN DIEGO ? A Research In Motion executive at the MobileCon conference said the company will focus on providing secure mobile computing to companies, while supporting iOS and Android devices.

During the ?Power Learning? keynote session, the executive announced that BlackBerry security will be extended to data at rest on iOS and Android devices in the first quarter of 2013. Additionally, RIM unveiled its new BlackBerry 10 suite, which will be available next year.

?The mobile landscape is preparing for another shift,? said Robin Bienfait, chief information office of Research In Motion. ?Mobility is changing the way we run our business and it?s shaping the way we work.

?Enterprise mobility is much more than managing hardware,? she said. ?We need to plan for a mobile future that manages all things connected.?

Think ahead
According to Ms. Bienfait, marketers need to cut through the mobile chaos and build solutions that make the mobile experience easy and fun, but yet manageable and secure.

The executive unveiled BlackBerry?s enterprise service, BlackBerry 10, which is scheduled for the first quarter of next year.

With the new service, RIM is aiming to rebrand BlackBerry and stay ahead of competition from Apple and Google.

Additionally, Ms. Bienfait believes that BlackBerry 10 will bring the power of computers to smartphones.

The executive also said the company is expanding its current BlackBerry Balance service.

BlackBerry Balance is designed to separate and secure work and personal information.

This will further help enterprises and employees in the mobile space, per Ms. Bienfait.

?The mobile market is complex, however, we will work with our customers to simplify it and make it more effective,? Ms. Bienfait said. ?Your employees need easy and secure access to your in-house confidential proprietary data.

?Employees need the business intelligence from behind the firewall and they need tools to help them take action.

?With BlackBerry 10, we?re building the future.?

Continued progress
BlackBerry is also vowing to put a bigger focus on providing secure mobile computing to its clients, while at the same time, supporting iOS and Android devices.

By doing so, the company is hoping to bring even more to the table for its customers.

Nowadays, privacy and data are a big concern of enterprises.

Additionally, employees have to juggle both their personal and work information on their smartphones.

By extending its support to iOS and Android, BlackBerry is aiming to make the enterprise space more secure.

?There?s so much more potential in mobility now,? Ms. Bienfait said. ?Mobile is rapidly changing today?s workforce.

?This is an exciting time for innovation,? she said.  ?We?re committed to listening and to partnering with you as you face mobility trends and challenges.?
