Spotify expands mobile presence with Kindle Fire app

Spotify is continuing to make a name for itself in the digital music space with a new Kindle Fire application that lets users listen to their favorite songs.

The Kindle Fire app furthers Spotify?s position in mobile. Spotify also has mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices.

?Our goal is to have Spotify available on every conceivable mobile device and platform so that music fans can take full advantage of our music ecosystem,? said Graham James, a spokesman for Spotify.

?Kindle Fire is an amazing device and we are incredibly happy to offer their users Spotify through the Amazon App Store for Android,? he said.

Spotify is a streaming music service that gives users access to millions of songs.

Musical advantage
Via the Spotify Kindle Fire app, consumers can choose to listen for free or subscribe to Spotify Premium.

Users can discover music and save it, as well as create their own playlists.

Consumers can also rate songs that they like.

Through the app, consumers can search for their favorite song or artists, create and browse playlists, check out what is new and see what their friends are doing.

?We are reaching out to Kindle Fire users across social media as well as through cross-promotion channels on Spotify and Amazon.com - as well as select mobile marketing channels,? Mr. James said.

Big efforts
Spotify is quickly taking over the music space.

Earlier this year, Spotify rolled its radio service onto the company?s iPhone and iPad applications, which lets users listen to more than 16 million songs. The feature is available to all users with an ad-supported version for non-paying consumers and an ad-free model for subscribers (see story).

Additionally, Spotify has been ramping up its social media efforts, which play a big role in the company?s day-to-day initiatives.

?Music is increasingly a mobile-first experience and we want to make Spotify a great experience when people access our service on their mobile phones or tablets,? Mr. James said.

?Mobile has always been a great experience for paying subscribers with full access to Spotify's 16 million-plus library of tracks, and we recently launched Mobile Free Radio for iOS and Android ? increasing the number of ways our free users can discover new music on their mobile devices with no limitations,? he said.
