SeeqPod Inc., which trademarked the phrase "Playable Search," has unveiled a media search application compatible with any Windows Mobile-powered device.
The company claims that it is the only app for Windows Mobile devices that lets users play media related to search results on their handset. The application makes millions of search results, podcasts, Wikipedia content, mp3s and other playable data throughout the Internet accessible for a one-time fee.
"The strategy here is to introduce people to a new way of searching for media on mobile phones," said Kasian Franks, founder/CEO, SeeqPod Inc., Emeryville, CA. -- We look at this search application as a way to fulfill multiple transaction models."
SeeqPod for Windows Mobile can be downloaded from the SeeqPod Web site at http://www.seeqpod.com/mobile/ at the introductory rate of $9.95.
In the future, it will be available in the Microsoft Windows App Marketplace.

SeeqPod plays a tune
SeeqPod, which is known for its biomimetic search and discovery technology, is currently working on applications for RIM's Blackberry and Google's Android in conjunction with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, to be released sometime this year.
In 2007, an adaptation to the full-function SeeqPod engine was made for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch.
The app lets consumers search the Internet for individual playable search results including audio, text, related Wikipedia articles and music discovery and recommendations.

It provides access to thousands of SeeqPod's section Featured PodLists, which is updated daily.
The app features quick-links to purchase media via Amazon.com, iTunes and other sites.
The graphics have interchangeable color themes and player skins.
The app features one-handed controls and touch, stylus and gestures on PocketPC devices.
It is Bluetooth-ready for enabled or adapted players, home audio and car stereos.
"We intend on moving the partnership forward with an ad initiative with Microsoft and Cisco Systems and we are moving into the entertainment field pretty aggressively," Mr. Franks said.
The app requires consumers to have an Internet-enabled Pocket PC or smartphone running Windows Mobile 6.0 or greater.
SeeqPod recommends a broadband Internet connection for optimum performance.
The app is compatible with the following display sizes: QVGA (320 x 240), WQVGA (240 x 400), Square QVGA (320 x 320) and VGA (640 x 480).
SeeqPod says that Version 1.0 of SeeqPod Mobile for Windows is just the first step among many development efforts in the future that will address global markets, any operating system or form factor.
SeeqPod claims that its sees more than 7 million queries per day and that it has 45 million unique visitors each month.
The company has developed products and services with the mobile, social-Web generation in mind, providing developers, carriers and customers an array of tools to playlist, share, embed and buy digital media and entertainment.
"In the future we plan to enable every search result to have a piece of video associated with it, which is related to consumers' search results," Mr. Franks said.
