Pangea Media introduces mobile polls and quizzes

Pangea Media is implementing the fun and educational benefits of online quizzes and surveys and converting it to mobile, so that marketers have a new way of engaging with and advertising to customers.

The Quiblo Polls widget, a location-aware quiz application, allows users to create and participate in polls and surveys via iPhone and iPod touch, and then see consolidated results by city, state, country and overall.

"Quizzes, polls and surveys have long been a popular activity," said Seth Leiberman, CEO of Pangea Media, Watertown, MA. "In general people like to take quizzes and surveys -- they like that people are interested in hearing their opinions and views and they like to see the results -- and how their responses compare with those around them.

"In addition, surveys provide researchers with valuable information on preferences and perspectives," he said.

Users can see the responses of other pollers within a 10 mile radius. The application will feature a "poll of the day" with questions such as "Which City has the Best Chinese Food?" and "Paper or Plastic?"

The Quibblo Polls widget is powered by uLocate Communications' WHERE iPhone and iPod Touch application. WHERE's location-aware widgets deliver mobile content offered on a map, and allow users to get directions and share their locations, all based on the users current position.

"Pangea's strategy is to capitalize on the interest in surveys and the engagement value they provide as form of casual entertainment," Mr. Leiberman said. "The launch of the Quibblo Polls Widget for the iPhone is a natural extension of Quibblo.com."

The widget is available through iTunes at http://www.quibblo.com/promo/iphone, free of charge as part of the WHERE application.

The Widget allows Pangea to take its quiz and poll Web site to the mobile platform, which is an increasingly important way of reaching users, he said.

The iPhone will allow Pangea and Quibblo to engage new users and provide additional opportunities for current users to access Quibblo.

"This addresses Pangea's goal of broadening its reach by attracting and maintaining an ever growing, diverse user base. It also address an important computing/ technology reality -- individuals increasingly are interested in, and expect to be able to access their favorite applications from anywhere at any time using their mobile devices," he said.
