Oxygen Network offers exclusive television content to viewers via Shazam partnership

Oxygen Network is integrating Shazam into its programming to engage viewers with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of its new show.

Shazam for TV will be featured in Oxygen?s new series, ?The Glee Project.? The show follows 12 contenders as they vie for a seven episode guest role on Fox?s ?Glee.?

?The expansion into television supports Shazam?s position as the world?s leading mobile discovery company, giving its more than 125 million Shazamers the opportunity to find out more about their favorite music ? and now television ? and share their discoveries with their friends,? said Beatrice Farina, vice president of marketing communications for Shazam.

?Shazam?s work with The Glee Project is another example of how Shazam for TV is creating an interactive and engaging experience,? she said. ?What started in January 2010 with the Dockers ?Wear the Pants? campaign on the Super Bowl grew into Syfy?s ?Being Human? being the first Shazamable series on television last January.

?Now, summer programming on Oxygen, Bravo and soon on Syfy will feature Shazamable moments, opportunities for fans to go behind the scenes to see more footage from the shows they love.?

Tag me
Viewers can tag the programs they like and get access to content that is not available elsewhere.

Users can also share their tags on Twitter or use the Shazam Friends feature to share their discoveries, as well as see a real-time feed of what their friends are watching.

Each episode of The Glee Project will have a Shazamable moment that lets viewers access exclusive footage not available anywhere else of the guest celebrity mentors ? who will appear on the show every week.

"According to a Nielsen survey released earlier this year, 86 percent of mobile phone owners use their devices while they watch TV,? Ms. Farina said.

?Oxygen?s new show, The Glee Project, has integrated Shazam to give its audience the opportunity to further engage with the program,? she said.

Extra features
After tagging, when viewers are prompted to Shazam?s app, they can see exclusive footage not available anywhere else ? giving them a second screen experience on their mobile phone.

?This way, they can have an exciting, interactive experience without interrupting what they?re watching,? Ms. Farina said.

?Oxygen is including information about Shazamable moments in all of their weekly programming notes to entertainment editors,? she said. ?Additionally, both Shazam and Oxygen are doing social media outreach on our sites as well as communicating to fan sites to tell them how they can see more of their favorite show.?
