Motorola Mobile TV DVBH allows users to access live TV anytime and anywhere
Motorola introduced the Motorola Mobile TV DVBH compatible DH01 device and mobile TV broadcast offering, creating another channel for networks and advertisers to reach viewers.
The media player is lightweight and pocket sized. It allows users access to TV anytime and anywhere for live, on-demand clips and programs saved on a DVR, according to Motorola.
"[We are] in a unique position to mobilize the TV experience to deliver broadcast and personalized content wherever and whenever consumers want," said Navin Mehta, vice president of mobile TV and applications services at Motorola, Horsham, PA.
The Mobile TV DH01 is smaller than a paperback novel and has a 4.3-inch Wide Quarter Video Graphics Array Screen that supports 16 million colors. It also includes a five-minute memory buffer for pause during live TV viewing.
"The entertainment experience is changing from 'broadcast time' to 'my time,'" Mr. Mehta said.
Meanwhile, the blogosphere is buzzing about this new release with expectations that mobile TV will finally take off this year.
"Keep in mind that the DVBH standard is getting traction in Europe and Asia right now," writes blogger Mari Silbey on http://connectedhome2go.com. "Not so much in the US. Motorola has run limited trials with the Mobile TV DH01 and has commercial proposals out with European operators."
