SpeedTV launches mobile site and revamps Web site
January 17, 2008

SpeedTV.com will offer enhanced social networking functionality
Motor sports fans will be driven to check out automotive content on SpeedTV’s new mobile site.
The motor sports and automotive lifestyle network is creating exclusive content that will be made available strictly to broadband and mobile applications featuring bonus coverage and special events.
“Mobile is the future,” said Kevin Annison, vice president of digital and interactive media for SpeedTV, Charlotte, NC. “I live on my BlackBerry. People who watch the network may not be able to catch stuff when it’s on and now they can get it whenever and wherever.”
SpeedTV also re-launched its network Web site, aiming for expanded editorial and video content, easier navigation, social networking and optimized advertising opportunities.
The mobile site can be viewed at http://www.speedtvmobile.com.
The new SpeedTV.com will offer enhanced social networking functionality throughout the site, including article comments, user content ratings and customization options. Users will also be able to track their favorite content by creating a profile page.
The site is launching a user-supported motor sports database, coined “Speed-wiki.” Speed-wiki will be a destination and resource where users can submit definitions, descriptions and relationships about motor sports and automotive topics.
As part of the re-design, SpeedTV will develop advertising and co-branding opportunities for sponsors with an emphasis on optimizing ad placement.
“This is just the beginning in the evolution of SpeedTV.com and Speed Interactive, where the environment is more conducive to broadband vertical initiatives and digital brand extensions for the linear network,” Mr. Annison said.
“In addition, we will be able to provide a much more conducive environment for broadband vertical initiatives for the linear network,” he said.
