Rosetta Stone helps consumers learn a language via iPad app

Rosetta Stone is letting consumers learn a language via an iPad application that features on-the-go coursework capabilities.

The Rosetta Stone TOTALe app lets subscribers access their coursework wherever they are and offers them a new, fresh touch-screen interface to play with. The company believes that the iPad app will enhance the language-learning experience.

"Rosetta Stone's new Companion HD app is a direct reflection of customers' on-the-go lifestyles and increasing desire for mobilization," said Mike Fulkerson, chief technology officer of Rosetta Stone.

"The app allows Rosetta Stone TOTALe subscribers to continue their lesson any time, anywhere they are connected using their iPad, thereby enriching their language-learning experience," he said.

"The launch of Companion HD follows last year's introduction of TOTALe online services and iPhone companion app, and shows the company's commitment to delivering its award-winning language-learning solution across multiple platforms."

Rosetta Stone provides interactive solutions that are acclaimed for the speed and power to unlock the natural language-learning ability in everyone.

Mobile language

The app lets users build a vocabulary and encourages them to speak correctly.

Additionally, the app features 50-minute sessions led by tutors who are native speakers.

The Rosetta World feature lets learners connect with others in an online community to explore language through fun games and other activities.

"Tablet technology is revolutionizing the way consumers play games, access the internet, watch movies, and check email," Mr. Fulkerson said. "The iPad is at the forefront of the movement, making it an ideal medium to access Rosetta Stone language learning and supplement the TOTALe solution.

"We're always looking for ways to innovate and are working on many new ideas to improve and extend our existing products, and to build additional new and innovative language-learning solutions for users around the globe," he said.

Higher learning

The app is offered in 20 languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, English, Dutch, Filipino, French, German, Greek, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese.

Current subscribers are encouraged to download the app for free and new customers will be directed to download the app to enrich their learning experiences.

"Rosetta Stone strives to provide the best immersion-based language learning through technology and self-education," Mr. Fulkerson said.

"Providing on-the-go coursework capabilities to TOTALe subscribers allows Rosetta Stone to continue its heritage of exceptional language-learning methods while also modernizing with customers' wants and needs," he said.
