Priv promotes men?s health with Movember grooming offers

Beauty and wellness mobile application Priv is working with Hot Towels, a New York barber service that travels to customers, to offer Movember-related services and is donating 50 percent of the proceeds to the Movember Foundation.

Movember, an annual event to raise awareness and funds for men?s health, supports the growing of men?s facial hair throughout the month of November. To support the maintenance of facial hair growth, Priv and Hot Towels are leveraging the mobile channel to also support men?s health.

?First of all, The Movember Foundation is an amazing charity that does great work,? said Lauren Holloway, manager of content and marketing at Priv, New York. ?Supporting Movember is a great opportunity to try out a new service, such as straight shaves, engage our male users in a creative way that reminds them of the quality and convenience of our services and to reinforce that health and wellness are an important part of our brand identity.

?Many of our users participate in Movember and they can Priv a variety of services based on whether they want to trim and maintain their beard or get rid of it entirely,? she said. ?We are happy to say we will be donating 50 percent percent of our proceeds from all straight shaves, beard and mustache trims to the foundation.?

Movember goes mobile
The collaboration kicked off this weekend, offering mustache trims and styling on Nov. 15 and 16.

Hot Towels will also have a pop-up shop in New York on Nov. 30, and customers can book and pay through the app but come to the pop-up shop to have their service done.

Other services provided are a haircut and straight shave for $85, a haircut and scalp massage for $60, a straight shave and face massage for $50, straight shave for $40, a beard trim and style for $35 and a mustache trim and style for $35.

Hot Towels claims to be the first of its kind, which is the only New York barber service that travels to a convenient location for customers to perform the beauty service. The company promises quick services, including a haircut or their signature ?Three Towel Shave? in less than 20 minutes.

The Movember Foundation is a leading organization committed to raising awareness of men?s health.

Priv is spreading the word of its efforts on its Instagram and Twitter accounts, which will provide information regarding date and time of the Nov. 30 event.

Other partnerships
Beauty brand Dove?s Dove Hair is also using Priv to bring its hair care products to New York and Los Angeles residents.

Dove is one of a few beauty brands going extra lengths to build a mobile presence in its marketing efforts this year. By seeking direct partnership with Priv, Dove Hair can serve as a personal reference for consumers from any mobile device (see story).

The company has also recently sought a new funding round.

This $3 million Angel Round was led by Priv?s executive chairman Alain Schibl. It is the company?s first funding since their initial seed round and will be used to fund their expansion plans and further development of their B2B as well as their B2C platform.  This Angel Round of funding comes as an extension to the original investment pool, based on overwhelming interest from existing strategic investors.

This funding comes on the heels of a number of launches for Priv that took place in September, which was their expansion Los Angeles, the introduction of their Android app and a complete redesign and update to their iOS app.  Priv launches in London on Nov. 25, claiming to be the first beauty and wellness on-demand app to expand internationally.

?We will continue to expand, with the London launch slated for the end of the year,? Ms. Holloway said. ?As always, we will continue to invest in one of our greatest assets, which is our talented freelance professionals while expanding the platform we've built for them.

?As we ramp up the debut of new seasonal services like Halloween makeup and hot shaves for Movember, we will continue showing our clients what our app can do,? she said.
