Behr Paints bolsters sales via mobile app

Behr Paints is introducing a color matching and inspiration application that lets consumers match, coordinate and preview the brand's colors before they decorate their rooms.

The ColorSmart application features the capability to decorate a room image digitally via the touch-and-tap technology and preview color on walls, trim and accents. The application is available for free download in Apple?s App Store.

?ColorSmart by Behr is a valuable online tool for selecting the ideal colors for any home decorating project,? said Joe Richardson, senior vice president of professional products and services at Behr, Orange County, CA. ?Using this as our foundation, we were inspired to develop a more personal and mobile version that users can take anywhere.

?Incorporating all of the color selection, coordination and preview features from ColorSmart, Behr created a mobile application that allows users to start a paint project at anytime and from anywhere.?

Behr manufactures paints, decorative finishes, primers, stains and surface preparation products which are sold exclusively at The Home Depot.

Consumers can browse Behr?s Premium Plus Ultra and Premium Plus range of more than 2,000 colors.

Customers can search for colors by browsing through color families or typing in the exact name or number of the color.

After selecting the desired color, consumers can preview what it would look like in a room.

Additionally, consumers can take a photo or use an existing photo from the personal gallery.

Consumers can explore different colors

?With a range of unique features, such as the first-of-its-kind capability to decorate a room image digitally with touch-and-tap technology and preview color on walls, trim and accents, the application allows consumers to act upon what inspires them in the moment,? Mr. Richardson said.

?Whether it?s a blue sky in the park, a vivid red sweater or a flowing lavender curtain, the ColorSmart by Behr application enables users to explore and select color immediately,? he said.

Consumers can share their color selections via Twitter and Facebook pages.

?The ColorSmart by Behr Mobile Application has been created specifically for the Apple iPhone and will also work with the iPad and iPod touch,? Mr. Richardson said. ?We will be exploring other platforms, such as the Android, in the near future.

?In the coming year, Behr will be enhancing current features of the ColorSmart application for a richer user experience,? he said. ?We will be exploring mobile commerce capabilities as well.?
