Real estate app takes flight since June boost in realty market

Mobile entertainment content publisher Airborne Mobile has launched the "Homes on Mobile Phones" application, which has proven to be a preferred marketing tactic for realtors in Canada.

In June, the Canadian real estate market experienced a 17.9 percent sales boost, resulting in the implementation of new mobile marketing tools by real estate agents. The application is not only speeding up the sales process for realtors, but it is customizable so it can be branded and used for other brokerages.

"The application is customizable at two levels," said Andy Nulman, president and chief marketing officer at Airborne Mobile Inc, Montreal.

"First of all, each property listing is inherently different, and the agent of record for each is listed and pictured; that's customization at a micro level -- that is customization at a micro level," he said.

"At a macro level, we can re-brand the entire application, from physical sign-topper to the total mobile on-screen experience, in a brokerage's look-and-feel, complete with unique color scheme and logo placement."

Homes on Mobile Phones is a subsidiary of Airborne Mobile, a company that claims to provide "everything else" that mobile phone users can do with their handset.

With the fastest new home sales rate in more than eight years, Canadian real estate agencies are searching for the hottest new tool to market their properties.

While it is still a relatively new product, Homes on Mobile Phones has announced partnerships with Sutton Canada, Christie's Great Estates affiliate Profusion Realty Inc. and leading Canadian broker Lloyd Cooper of Cushman & Wakefield LePage (see story).

Homes on Mobile Phones claims to have proven its versatility in both the commercial and residential real estate sectors by partnering with brokerages from both sectors.

"Mobile is perhaps the best platform to handle real estate, as it reaches people at point of purchase when they are most curious and interested," Mr. Nulman said.

"A sign in front of a home only tells you it's for sale; the Homes on Mobile Phones app allows potential buyers an immediate look into the home, condo, apartment or office building," he said. "It's like being positioned at the check-out counter in a supermarket or drugstore."

The Homes on Mobile Phones application provides realtors with the tools they need to manage listings, connect with new clients and open up properties to potential home buyers.

Agents who are currently using Homes on Mobile Phones have reported that their average time between listing a property and receiving an offer has been less than a week.

Homes on Mobile Phones credits these speedy sales with the application's social networking, personal branding, instant information and visibility feature offerings.

"Since phones and computers are morphing into a ubiquitous and omnipresent hand-held device, consumers will be more demanding of information on an immediate basis," Mr. Nulman said.

"Homes on Mobile Phones addresses this for the residential and commercial real estate sector, but pretty soon, your mobile device will be the remote control for your everyday life, particularly outside the home," he said. "That's why they call it mobile."
