Amazon?s Audible.com pushes mobile storefront via iAd campaign

Amazon?s Audible.com is running an iAd campaign to promote its new mobile store that lets users browse, sample and buy from over 85,000 downloadable digital spoken-audio titles.

The campaign on Apple?s iAd advertising platform features Jon Stewart. The campaign also features audio samples, video and the ability to shake The Daily Show?s Jon Stewart to hear audio clips from his new book.

?Essentially, we want viewers of the ad to have a great time while discovering that Audible provides a simple, portable solution for keeping up on the latest books,? said Chris Avello, manager of business development at Audible, Newark, NJ.

The concept of the Audible iAd revolves around one our most anticipated titles of the year, Jon Stewart?s Earth,? he said.

As an added bonus, the first chapter of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents Earth will be made available for all users who download Audible?s free iPhone application for a limited time.

Audible.com is a provider of premium digital spoken audio information and entertainment on the Internet.

?We think that iAd is a great advertising platform that provides a unique and engaging outlet to showcase our brand and content,? Mr. Avello said. ?Mobile is a natural fit for Audible, and very important for us going forward.

?We?re really excited about the state of mobile right now, and even more excited about its future,? he said.

Mobile store
The application is available immediately through a free update from Apple?s App Store or Android Market.

In addition to Mobile Store access, updates to the Audible applications for iPhone, iPod touch and Android include:

? Audio bookmarking for remembering playback position

? Advanced navigation tools including chapter skip, jump back 30 seconds, fast rewind and fast-forward, and precise audio scrubbing

? Button-free mode for easy title navigation

? Share bookmarks and favorite titles with friends via Facebook and Twitter

? Keep track of stats and listening badges for die-hard listeners

Audible for iPhone and iPod touch is compatible with all devices running iPhone OS 3.0 and higher. Audible for Android is compatible with all Android devices running Android OS 1.5 and higher.

?Portability has always been one of the most important aspects of the Audible experience,? Mr. Avello said. ?However, until the launch of our mobile store, customers have always had to rely on a PC to discover and purchase content from Audible.

?Now, we?ve mobilized the entire Audible experience: browsing, shopping, downloading and listening,? he said. ?We love being able to deliver an end-to-end experience on the smartphones that people carry around in their pockets everywhere they go.?
