Women in Wireless celebrate mobile innovation and leadership

In celebration of the second annual Mobile Marketing Week, Women in Wireless hosted a speed networking event in eight cities.

The worldwide event took place on Sept. 11. The cities involved were Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Singapore, Seattle, Hamburg and Los Angeles.

?The mobile and digital media industry used to be male dominated, but with the help of organizations like Women in Wireless, women are more visible, more supported and have access to structured mentoring and education to move into leadership positions," said Kristine van Dillen, co-chair of the local and international chapters committee of Women in Wireless, New York.

"We expect to see a growing number of female entrepreneurs, C-level executives and female industry leaders in the future," she said.

Here is what attendees had to say about the event as well as some pictures:

"Women tend to shy away from events and self-promotion," she said. "Women in Wireless wants to break down these barriers, and speed networking is just one way to allow professionals the experience of an abrupt introduction to a complete stranger over and over again until it becomes a habit."

?Attendees were all smiles as Alison Vacovec used a martini shaker as a bell to change networking partners. Boston is looking forward to launching an official chapter in the next few months."
