Fiserv debuts Web-based mobile banking app

Fiserv Inc., a software firm targeting the financial and insurance industries, is launching a new integrated mobile banking service for banks.

The Premier Mobile Banking service is an integrated mobile banking offering that allows customers to manage their accounts from their mobile device. The product operates on a browser embedded in the mobile phone and is carrier-independent and compatible with any Web-enabled device.

Banking customers can check account balances, view recent transactions, receive alerts and transfer funds between accounts in real time with their mobile phone or PDA.

A business unit of Fiserv, Information Technology Inc. is the software provider that enables Premier Mobile Banking. Information Technology Inc. offers mobile banking services to clients using Premier or PCS Vision, the company's two core product suites.

Fiserv is one of the leading providers of information technology services, posting $4 billion in revenue last year. It is based in Brookfield, WI.

Grand Rapids, MI-based United Bank of Michigan, with assets of $421 million, implemented the Fiserv ITI mobile banking solution in October.

Mobile banking activity at United Bank of Michigan is said to have increased significantly in recent weeks, and virtually every new customer now chooses this service, Fiserv claims.

Additionally, Premier Mobile Banking includes menu navigation, security and a consistent view of accounts, whether accessed from a PC or mobile device.

The application can be private-labeled by Fiserv core banking business units to sell into their Internet banking client bases, and is currently employed by both Fiserv ITI and Fiserv Vision.
