Tommy Hilfiger bolsters in-store summer traffic via iPad app

Tommy Hilfiger is letting trendy shoppers find the perfect sportswear and denim styles this summer via its first iPad-specific application.

The app launched in-store in the United States for Summer 2011 as a tool for associates to demonstrate the various fits and styles available for Tommy Hilfiger?s chinos and denim. The app is available in Apple?s App Store for free download.

?The iPad Fit Guide visually communicates the brand?s signature fits and styles,? said Avery Baker, executive vice president of global marketing and communications at Tommy Hilfiger, New York.

?With the iPad?s larger screen we are able to give consumers a 360-degree view of the clothing to compare movement, silhouettes, and design details,? he said.

With a premium lifestyle brand portfolio that includes Tommy Hilfiger and Hilfiger Denim, the Tommy Hilfiger Group is one of the world?s most recognized designer apparel groups. Its focus is designing and marketing high-quality menswear, womenswear, children?s apparel and denim collections.

Perfect fit
The app features a fit guide that uses video imaging to capture a 360-degree view of the clothing as models walk and move across the screen.

Consumers can compare the fit of the different products, view alternative styling suggestions and read specifics on the cut of each pant.

Additionally, consumers can browse details on the rise of the paint ? high, mid or low, as well as the fit ? regular or slim.

Shoppers can also check the leg style they want, whether it is skinny, boot or straight.

For Summer 2011, the app focuses on Tommy Hilfiger sportswear chinos and denim with six styles for men and five styles for women.

Fall collection
The company is also looking at Fall 2011 and will expand the app to include the full Hilfiger Denim collection and plans to offer consumers detailed views of more than 15 silhouettes for men and women.

For Summer 2011, the app launched in four U.S. Tommy Hilfiger Flagship stores including 5th Avenue, NY; SoHo, NY; South Beach, FL and Aventura, FL.

In addition, for Fall 2011, the app will also be featured in the company?s U.S. locations.

The iPad Fit Guide will be promoted in-store and on the Tommy Hilfiger Facebook Page.

At this time consumers cannot purchase through the fit guide directly.

The app is available in four languages, including English, French, Spanish and Dutch.

?As a company we welcome innovative ways to communicate with our customers,? Mr. Baker said.

?Bringing the iPad Fit Guide in-store further integrates our digital communications with traditional retail strategies,? he said. ?The guide is a fast, interactive way for customers to understand the fits and styles that we offer.?
