SinglePoint powers mobile alerts for NBC's Olympic coverage

Mobile agency SinglePoint has agreed to power mobile alerts for the NBC Olympics coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The NBC Olympics mobile alerts program offers Olympics fans full coverage of the games directly to mobile phones. SinglePoint enables Olympics enthusiasts to opt-in to receive daily news alerts or real-time information such as breaking news, athlete alerts, medal results and event reminders.

"The Olympics have the widest appeal possible, so by creating the ability to send these alerts we're hoping to expose a significant part of the population to mobile services," said said Rich Begert, president/CEO of SinglePoint, Bellevue, WA.

"Hopefully this is going to make people understand the broad reach of mobile as well as the instantaneous results," Mr. Begert said. "This creates the ability to better communicate with consumers, and so we are sending out information as it occurs."

From Aug. 8-24 NBC Universal will deliver 3,600 hours of events coverage, such as live swimming, gymnastics and beach volleyball.

Now, consumers can receive personalized alerts which relay information about the games in real-time, or as blanketed alerts. Participants can choose to receive specific alerts about their favorite athlete, medal counts or events.

In addition to SMS alerts, users can also select to receive MMS messages with video highlights and photos of the day by sports category. Fans can opt-in for the alerts program at NBCOlympics.com or via the NBC Olympics mobile site at m.nbcolympics.com.

AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile subscribers can participate in NBC's Olympic mobile alerts program.

SinglePoint is currently partnered with such cable channels and networks as VH1, MTV, CMT, BET, Bravo, Oxygen, SciFi, CNBC, MSNBC, Telemundo, USA Network, CBS Corp., The CW and Fox Networks.

The company recently launched SingleBrand, a new ad insertion platform for mobile media campaigns which delivers ads through interactive Television programs.

SinglePoint's SingleBrand pushes advertisements directly through interactive television programs. The platform helps advertisers reach out to targeted consumers and provides reporting metrics on campaign success.

The company offers a full suite of services including TV, Web and radio voting and polling, text-to-screen, text and multimedia message ad insertion, advertising video overlay, ticketing and coupons, video streaming and download, billing, reporting and analytics.

NBC has been deemed "America's Olympic Network" due to its exclusive ownership of U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games through 2012, which includes Beijing in 2008, Vancouver in 2010 and London in 2012.

"From a technology standpoint, it is pretty much the biggest added mobile alerts program, and has the largest scale of capabilities," Mr. Begert said. "From a multimedia angle, the breadth of what's being offered is huge.

"A lot of the other alerts programs are blanket alerts, which means that they're not tied in to the actual programming," he said. "With SinglePoint's platform, you can get local alerts, national primetime alerts, and get them in real-time or get blanketed alerts, so the personalization capabilities are unparalleled."
