General Mills offers Latin-inspired recipes via iPad app

General Mills has rolled out a Spanish language application for Apple?s iPad that offers consumers access to hundreds of Latin-inspired recipes.

The Que Rica Vida Recetario application includes more than 900 Latin-style recipes. The application is available for free download in Apple?s App Store.

?Que Rica Vida and General Mills are committed to meeting consumers? needs and staying at the forefront using new technologies, such as the iPad platform to reach U.S. Hispanics," said Marta Pelaez, spokeswoman for General Mills Hispania, Minneapolis, MN.

"The new Qué Rica Vida Recetario for the iPad comes in response to overwhelming demand the company has received for Spanish-language recipes from consumers allowing us to use digital and social media technologies to meet our consumers? needs,? she said.

Consumers can access the recipes in 12 different categories, such as appetizers, breakfasts, salads, garnishes, drinks, breads, pastas, pastries, entrees, desserts, sauces and soups.

Que Rica Vida Rectario is General Mills five year-old multibrand. The program was developed by the company to help the Hispanic mother create a healthier lifestyle for her family.

General Mills operates in more than 100 countries and markets more than 100 consumer brands, including Cheerios, Häagen-Dazs, Nature Valley, Betty Crocker and Pillsbury.

Each recipe includes a full-color picture and provides users with a measurement converter, with snap calculation capabilities.

The application connects directly with Que Rica Vida?s Web site.

"Que Rica Vida publically launched the new Recetario app at the 2010 Blogalicious Conference this past weekend, where hundreds of Hispanic bloggers and Latina consumers gathered in Miami to celebrate the growing diversity of social media," Ms. Pelaez said. "QRV partnered with nine of the most influential Latina bloggers to demonstrate and blog about the new app."

In addition to recipes, users can access other information, such as parenting, health and education.

"Realizing the importance of mobile usage to our core Hispanic consumer, QRV leveraged the state-of-art iPad platform to showcase our popular recipes and award-winning photography," Ms. Pelaez said. "Staying at the forefront of new technologies is central to our Que Rica Vida digital strategy."
