Citi takes online foreign exchange trading platform mobile

Citigroup has launched CitiFX Pro Mobile, a mobile version of its online foreign exchange trading platform for active traders.

CitiFX Pro Mobile provides clients with full-time access to their accounts and ability to trade anywhere via portable mobile devices.

"The goal is to provide as much flexibility, convenience and access to clients trading on our platform as possible," said Sanjay Madgavkar, head of CitiFX Pro, Cleveland, OH. "The FX market is a global 24 hour market and offering this connectivity allows clients to access their accounts, to check real time market rates and charts, enter orders and better manage their risk by allowing them to submit or change entry and exit orders if necessary."

The CitiFX Pro Mobile platform gives individual and small institutional clients real-time access to Foreign Exchange markets. By staying connected, clients are able to trade more effectively and better manage their exposure to risk in the market.

"CitiFX Pro will remove the current challenges clients may face when they are away from their desktop. Now, they can have access to their platform wherever they are and whenever they want," Mr. Madgavkar said.

The software offers clients the ability to trade in more than 130 currency pairs and access Foreign Exchange research and market commentary for free.

In celebration of the mobile launch, CitiFX Pro applicants nationwide who open an account between May 18 and June 18 will receive a $300 Apple Gift Card.

This news comes on the heels of the fact that Citi launched a new mobile account management service in November. Citi Mobile for Cards lets Citi credit card customers efficiently access real-time account information from their mobile devices. It was picked up by wireless carriers AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

Now AT&T subscribers in part with AT&T Mobile Banking and Verizon Wireless customers who download and use its Get It Now service can use Citi Mobile for Cards.

Also, in October, Citi launched the pilot of a new mobile person-to-person money transfer service with Obopay Inc., a mobile payments service provider.

The Citi-Obopay mobile payment service was offered to all Citibank customers in the U.S., with a focus on Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Maryland and New Jersey. This was the first time that a real-time, person-to-person mobile money transfer service with the ability to link directly to a bank account was offered in the U.S.

"Mobile access to the Internet has become ubiquitous, especially with the growth of products like the Blackberry and iPhone," Mr. Madgavkar said. "With Internet access via mobile now widely available, we believe an easy-to-use mobile offering such as ours will be extremely beneficial to our client-base."
