Dada music content invades BlackBerry home screens

Dada Entertainment is giving Dada.net members access to their favorite music-related content right from their BlackBerry smartphone's home screen.

Using BlackBerry's Web Signals technology, Dada can send updates to its subscribers, giving them immediate access to information they are most interested in. Dada.net users will now have one-click international access to their Dada accounts from their BlackBerry smartphones, downloading their favorite ringtones, wallpapers and games.

"We always want to ensure easy access to the services Dada.net offers to as many of our customers as possible in the way that works best for them," said Daniel Cohen, vice president of business development at Dada Entertainement, New York.

"This partnership allows us to install an icon on Blackberry users' desktops, and we can change that icon to indicate new content relevant to that particular user, for example," he said. "It is a direct link to our customers."

Music fans who sign up for Dada.net are given 15 tokens per month for only $9.99.

Each token can be redeemed for one download of a full-track MP3, ringtone, or other mobile content including wallpapers and games.

All MP3 tracks are DRM-free allowing consumers to transfer their download to any mobile phone, iPod or digital music player.

Dada expects to be able to offer users over-the-air MP3 downloads to mobile devices in the coming weeks.

Dada.net users are billed for the service through their phone bill via Premium SMS.

Dada currently offers all genres of music from Universal Music Group and Sony BMG artists, and will soon announce additional content deals with both major and independent labels.

"As we develop the platform, we will be able to target individual consumers according to their specific musical tastes and direct them specifically to new and relevant content we have on our WAP portal," Mr. Cohen said. "Our presence in the mobile space is very pervasive. We advertise on-deck, on big and small publishers, either directly or through the main mobile advertising networks.

"Dada was the first off-deck content provider allowed to advertise on the major carriers who have opened their deck to off-deck advertising," he said. "Dada has also been one of the preferred partners for several of the biggest media portals."
