Slifter lets iPhone users search, share local products

Slifter is giving Apple's iPhone users access to its mobile shopping search application.

Slifter claims that it is the first local product search tool available in the App Store that lets consumers search and share products and promotions at local retailers. Slifter's database includes more than 350 million products at more than 200,000 retail stores nationwide.

"iPhone users are familiar with data services and mobile applications, creating a fantastic audience for Slifter," said Alex Muller, CEO of Slifter, New York. "Additionally, as a LBS application, building for a device that allows for rich integration with Google Maps and GPS, illustrates the features and capabilities of Slifter."

Slifter specializes in the on-the-go, interactive shopping experience, featuring local product search, geo-targeted Hot Deals and Shopping Lists.

Slifter's target demographic is men and women between the ages of 20 -- 35, and is fairly consistent across all handsets.

Slifter is available now in the iPhone App Store for free under the Lifestyle section.

Slifter is accessible for free via the wireless Web or a Java application on almost any data-enabled mobile device.

There are also downloadable Slifter applications for Research In Motion's BlackBerry devices.

Consumers can search local store inventory for products, Hot Deals and promotions, including 40 million circular offers.

They can sort products by price or distance, see product information, images and maps, and save products and promotions into a mobile Shopping List.

Consumers can also share their product findings with friends and family. Additionally, iPhone users can take advantage of Slifter Gift Guides, rich integration with Google Maps and integrated GPS. Slifter leans on partners for much of its marketing strategy.

" We are on deck with Virgin Mobile USA, MetroPCS, AT&T's MEdia Net and Sprint," Mr. Muller said.

"Additionally, we have a partnership with Nokia and Blackberry, and just launched our new Web site at http:// www.slifter.com , adding a handful of long-awaited registered-user features and new viral features .

"We do use mobile banner ads, but Slifter is monetized via a pay for performance model, as well as, advertising opportunities within the application, such as the Hot Deals section," he said. "Two examples of clients are LG Mobile and Nikon."
