Gypsii connects social networkers via iPhone app

The Gypsii location-aware mobile social networking application has found a new home on Apple's iPhone App Store.

IPhone owners can download Gypsii directly from the popular iPhone App Store and immediately start creating and sharing geo-tagged content in real time with friends, family and the global community of Gypsii members.

"We chose the iPhone because of the Apple's value chain," said Shane Lennon, Providence, RI-based senior vice president of product management and marketing at Gypsii.

"Taking Apple out of the equation would make it very hard to drive downloads," he said. "I know Google, Android and Nokia are trying to do it, but I don't think they'll be able to match the Apple value chain."

The places and experiences users create and share on Gypsii become true
Internet-searchable destinations, available for friends and communities to share and comment on, not only in Gypsii, but also across other social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

Gypsii delivers an all-in-one mobile social networking experience.

The company allows people to instantly capture and share what they are actually doing, building a multimedia virtual diary on their world - the places they have been and the things that they have done.

From the United States to China and across Western Europe, the Gypsii community offers a global snapshot of local events and activities, where users can share what they are doing, where they are, and what they recommend with as few or many people as they desire.

The application was developed by GeoSentric Oyj. It was created to cater for today's mobile lifestyle and a generation of people who want to be socially networked on the move.

Using the iPhone's built-in location technologies, Gypsii lets share their experiences in real time, tagging their location with related images, comments, status and information.

Gypsii members can create, connect and share their social networking information and status with Facebook friends, Twitter followers and the wider Gypsii community.

"[Gypsii is] also looking at the Android and Java platform for enabling same type of use case," Mr. Lennon said. "We have to move across a couple of applications, especially in the U.S. market.

"People want to be able to create multimedia and share that virtual diary with their friends on Facebook and LinkedIn," he said.
