Gray Television, LSN extend mobile content partnership

Gray Television Inc. is further extending its partnership with Local Solutions Network Inc., enabling the station group to reach mobile consumers.

Through LSN's Local Wireless platform, a network of local television news content, mobile subscribers have access to breaking news, weather, sports scores, school closings and video clips from Gray Television's entire network of local broadcast TV stations. Gray Television uses the branding capabilities of LSN's Local Wireless to attract advertisers who are also looking to reach mobile consumers.

"Gray uses all of our mobile platforms: the mobile Internet, SMS alerts and mobile video," said Lee Durham, founder/CEO of LSN, Atlanta. "We have recently had significant success in several of their markets with severe weather text alerts.

"Station viewers sign up from the station Web site and then receive customized alerts when inclement weather is approaching," he said. "This has worked extremely well with the recent storms.

"LSN helps Gray reach nontraditional TV viewers."

Gray Television Inc. currently operates 36 television stations serving 30 markets.

Each of the stations are affiliated with either CBS (17 stations), NBC (10 stations), ABC (eight stations) or FOX (one station).

In addition, Gray currently operates 39 digital second channels including one ABC, five Fox, seven CW and 16 MyNetworkTV affiliates, plus eight local news/weather channels and two independent channels in certain of its existing markets.

Local Solutions Network is a mobile media and marketing company that enables local broadcasters and brand advertisers to extend their reach to the mobile consumer market via their handset.

Through its Direct Mobile Marketing & Advertising Group, LSN enables companies to rapidly deploy direct mobile marketing campaigns to mobile users via text messaging, rich-media content and interactive mobile marketing campaigns across all wireless carriers and handsets.

Gray's target demographic is local area residents. With LSN's program, the company is targeting a younger demographic.

Gray runs TV commercials in specific markets promoting LSN's mobile services.

Gray has WAP sites its stations, which run promotions for text alerts.

The LSN platform delivers Gray TV's branded media content via the mobile Web, SMS and streaming video to mobile devices.

LSN partners with all of the top-tier wireless carrier networks, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, Alltel, Cellular One, MetroPCS and Boost Mobile.

"LSN's Local Wireless platform enables our viewers to stay connected to their favorite local Gray TV affiliate on their handset while they are mobile, and our advertisers have been impressed with the innovative opportunities we can offer to reach these mobile consumers," said Robert S. Prather, Jr., president of Gray Television, Atlanta, in a statement.

"Since 2005, LSN has helped Gray TV broaden our audience and we are very pleased to extend our partnership with a market leader in the mobile media and mobile marketing space," he said.
