Comedy Central rolls out mobile app to entice Futurama fans
Comedy Central and “Futurama” series creator Matt Groening have launched the Futurama Head-In-A-Jar Creator mobile app for iPhone and Android devices.
The mobile app lets users jump into the animated world of Futurama and create their own customized characters.
Users can choose from a male or female human, robot or alien, and customize many traits including the eyes, nose, hair, blemishes and background.
Additionally, original artwork and sound design were created by the Futurama team specifically for the app.
Once a head is created, users can upload it to Facebook and Twitter and share with friends.
Users can also save them to their photo gallery, set as their wallpaper or as an icon for one of their friends' contacts.
Merkle acquires 5th Finger to expand capabilities in mobile
Customer relationship marketing firm Merkle has acquired technology-enabled mobile solutions provider 5th Finger as part of the company’s ongoing strategy to expand its presence in the mobile marketing space.
5th Finger works with retailers such as Jos. A. Bank, Jo-Ann Fabric & Crafts and Safeway.
According to Merkle, the acquisition of 5th Finger will allow for better customer engagement, customer value and conversation to support the integration of mobile commerce, marketing and CRM.
Samsung Mobile introduces free mobile app boot camp to high school students
Samsung Mobile is hosting four two-day mobile applications boot camps for top performing high school students interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The camps will introduce the students to the growing mobile applications industry and provide a chance to develop the next big thing in mobile applications.
During the boot camps, students will have access to mobile technology leaders, application developers and Web entrepreneurs to learn about the latest developments in mobile technology and mobile app campaigns through case studies and interactive panel discussions.
In addition, students will use the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to access the program curriculum, research the digital landscape and learn about mobile applications.
