Skycore launches MMS cards commemorating Inaugural Address

Now there's a way for consumers to savor and relive the historic moment of President Barack Obama's Inaugural Address with their mobile phones.

Skycore LLC, developer of the Cellyspace.com mobile multimedia messaging platform, has released a selection of commemorative MMS greeting cards for consumers to send to their own mobile phone or to the phones of friends, family and colleagues. The MMS cards feature audio highlights from President Obama's Inaugural Address, patriotic images, music and the ability to personalize with text.

"We have two primary goals," said Richard Eicher, founder/CEO of Skycore, Boston. "The first goal is to offer people the ability to commemorate, personalize and share some of the inspiring moments from President Obama's historic inauguration speech.

"The second goal is to show content providers and brands how simple and quick it can be to add interactive components to any marketing campaign," he said. "These Inaugural MMS Cards were ready literally hours after the inauguration.

Consumers can preview, edit and send MMS Cards on the Web by visiting http://www.obamaringers.com or directly from their mobile phone by texting the associated keyword to Skycore's short code number 33563. Standard messaging rates apply.

The following MMS cards are available nationwide:
1. "Spirit of Service" (keyword SPIRIT)
2. "Lasting Peace" (keyword PEACE)
3. "Faith and Courage" (keyword FAITH)
4. "A New Era" (keyword A NEW ERA)
5. "Challenges We Face" (keyword CHALLENGES)
6. "Hope and Virtue" (keyword HOPE)

"Mobilizing content for Web, WAP and broadcast promotions in association with major news events can be done almost immediately," Mr. Eicher said. "This allows marketers the ability to create and deliver a whole host of timely content, from commemoratives and greetings, to 'Insta-Coupons' and incentives.

"Marketers can offer either premium or standard rated content, depending on their needs," he said. "Marketers might also consider partnering with content providers and broadcasters to and offer exclusive content.

"For example, Ringmyname.com, the leading 'nametone' ringtone provider, used our Cellyspace.com platform to follow-up their pre-inaugural 'Obama Ringers' with commemorative, inaugural ringtones on http://www.obamaringers.com within hours of President Obama's speech."

How can they do this?

"The Inaugural MMS Cards and ringtones were created using the MMS Composer, Publishing and Broadcast tools of the self-service, Cellyspace.com platform," Mr. Eicher said.

"The platform's online Software as a Service tools were designed so concept to content can be realized literally in minutes," he said.

MMS cards are compatible with most phones and are delivered as either MMS or alternatively as an SMS link to the mobile Internet.

The service is offered on the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless networks, representing 92 percent of the U.S. market.

All content is optimized assuming MMS delivery, but if a handset is not MMS-enabled, an SMS with WAP link is sent to the handset instead of MMS.

Each MMS card costs the sender 99 cents, which is invoiced on their monthly mobile phone bill.

Consumers, content providers, publishers and brands can create, promote, sell and send their own custom mobile multimedia messages, content and ringtones by visiting the online user-facing http://cellyspace.com platform.

A specialist in MMS technology since 2003, Skycore offers online tools facilitating user-, media- and advertiser-generated composition of mobile multimedia messaging, mobile content and ringtones.

For the moment, Skycore is sticking with its pay-per-download monetization model. However, it does run mobile ads to promote its platform.

"Although MMS is well-suited for content as advertising and for the insertion of ads within its popular slideshow format, these Inaugural MMS Cards were set up as a premium-rated service, so no advertising will be inserted into the content," Mr. Eicher said.

"However, content providers and publishers may want to create and offer ad-supported, standard-rated content for their marketing programs," he said. "We are strong believers in using mobile advertising and accordingly use several mobile ad networks for our ad programs.

"We also use online ad networks and social networks to get the word out."
