Comedian Dane Cook launches iPhone app

Dane Cook has partnered with Zannel to launch a multimedia iPhone application, offering users access to exclusive fan features, videos, images and text updates during his upcoming "Isolated Incident -- Global Thermo Comedy Tour."

The Dane Cook Global application is available in the Apple App Store. To complement Mr. Cook's exclusive video, image and text updates, iPhone and iPod touch users will be able to follow the progress of his tour on an interactive map, talk with him and other fans about what's going on, get real-time tour venue information, download exclusive wallpapers for the phone, listen to tracks with an option to buy in iTunes, purchase tickets and merchandise and set-up 411 alerts.

"The Dane Cook Global app and its companion mobile Web and online channels fit into our strategy to provide artists with the premier multi-media microblogging platform to connect directly with their fans on iPhone, mobile phone, Web and major social networks including Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr and others," said Adam Zbar, CEO of Zannel.

"With Zannel, all an artist needs to do is post a video, picture, or text update to instantly start a conversation with his/her fans across the social/blogosphere," he said. "Coupled with premium offerings such as paid iPhone apps and premium SMS, sponsored content, advertising and promotional business models, Zannel provides artists with the most powerful service reach their fans everywhere and monetize their best content."

On April 25, to kick off his "Isolated Incident - Global Thermo Comedy Tour," Mr. Cook will begin providing updates to the app from all over the world, giving fans an in-depth look into his life backstage, on the road, and in private moments.

Mr. Cook's headline tour is billed as the largest comedy tour in history, with stops scheduled in the United States and Canada, along with future appearances in Africa, Brazil, Australia, Britain, Germany and Iraq, performing for the U.S. Military.

Dane Cook is a relevant film and television actor as well, with starring roles in the past few years opposite Kevin Costner and Demi Moore (Mr. Brooks), Jessica Biel (London), Steve Carell (Dan in Real Life), Jessica Alba (Good Luck Chuck), and Kate Hudson (My Best Friend's Girl).

Through it all, Mr. Cook remains one of the most brilliant comedic minds today, and is known as the only comedian to sell out two shows in one night at both Boston's TD Banknorth Garden and New York's Madison Square Garden -- twice.

Today's announcement represents a milestone as he becomes the first comedian to attempt to document an international comedy tour through an application available at the Apple App Store.

"Mobile allows Dane to instantly communicate with fans while he/they are on the go," Mr. Zbar said. "Fans can sign-up to receive SMS alerts to let them instantly know that new updates have been posted to the app. When a user clicks on an SMS alert, we directly link them into that update in the app, providing a seamless, real-time experience.

"We focused the point of our spear for launch on the iPhone since it is the No. 1 application storefront in the U.S., the touch-screen allows us to create a compelling user experience, and the iPhone's built-in GPS and multi-media capabilities allow Dane to share exclusive videos with fans that can be seen on a map," he said.
