Hooters Calendar Girls unveils third iPhone app

Hooters Calendar, a publisher associated with the Hooters restaurant chain, has licensed its girls-in-bikinis content to three developers of applications for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch.

The iPhone apps include Movaya Wireless Inc.'s Hooters Calendar Slider game, FunMobility's Calendar Girls of Hooters -- Premium Adult SlideShow app and Oasys Mobile Inc.'s Hooters Calendar Girls Crazy Eights, with both free and pay-per-download versions of the game. The goal of all three is to generate revenue by providing paid content to a male demographic.

"The strategy behind the launch of our Hooters Crazy Eights iPhone app is revenue generation," said Doug Dyer, CEO of Oasys Mobile, Raleigh, NC. "Hooters is an iconic, popular brand, and the Hooters Calendar Girls are a perfect match with mobile entertainment."

Hooters is the trade name of two privately held American restaurant chains: Hooters of America Inc., based in Atlanta, GA, and Hooters Inc., based in Clearwater, FL.

Hooters targets male customers with a waitstaff of scantily-clad waitresses.

The full version of Oasys Mobile Inc.'s Hooters Calendar Girls Crazy Eights is 99 cents per download in the App Store.

The content features Hooters Calendar Girls images contained in a fast-paced classic card game.

Oasys spells out its value proposition in the App Store: "The Hooters Calendar Girls are back in bikinis with a sexy twist to the classic crazy eights card game.

"This game incorporates all the rules of the original and features the sexy Hooters Calendar models in bikinis on the playing cards.

"The first player to get rid of all their cards becomes the Hooters Calendar Crazy 8s champion.

"Upgrade to the full version and get 52 cards with 52 beautiful, sexy bikini girl images while you play! It's a game and a way to view beautiful hot women in swimsuits."

Oasys Mobile's app is the only one of the three featured on the Hooters Calendar Web site.

"We've been working with Hooters Calendar Girls for years and have had a Hooters wallpaper application on various mobile carrier decks for some time," Mr. Dyer said. "AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and Alltel all offer our HCG application and images.

"Oasys Mobile acts as another channel for Hooters to monetize and promote their brand in a way that was previously unexploited," he said.

Movaya Wireless Inc.'s Hooters Calendar Slider, based puzzle tile game, is available in the App Store for $1.99 (see story).

The latest Hooters Calendar Girls application to appear in the App Store is FunMobility's Premium Adult SlideShow.

FunMobility urges iPhone users to "Check out the Hottest Girls of Hooters!"

The summary of the app asks: "Are you hungry for some tasty Hooters Girls? We have handpicked the hottest girls from Hooters and put together a premium music driven slide show masterpiece.

"Sit back and listen to a rockin' soundtrack and watch the best hotties Hooters has to offer.

"The girls are non-nude, but still as hot Hooters world-famous buffalo wings. See them in bikinis, lingerie, on the beach, behind bedroom doors, from the exotic to downright nasty. Pure adult entertainment. Each photo is HD quality.

"These are real Hooters Girls and not fake keyword-stuffing marketing gimmicks."

Since all three apps carry a ?17+ adults only' rating, the target demographic is males 17 and older.

"Engaging the demographic is pretty easy when you have 52 cards, each featuring a beautiful bikini-clad Hooters girl," Mr. Dyer said. "Playing Crazy 8s is pretty fun as well.

"Our new version even allows users to download some of the images to use as wallpapers for their phone," he said.
