Yahoo expands partnership with Samsung to increase reach

Samsung will distribute Yahoo services on more of its mobile devices, further extending Yahoo?s reach.

The handset manufacturer will distribute Yahoo services, including Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo Front Page, Yahoo Search, Yahoo Flickr, Yahoo News, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Contacts, Yahoo Calendar and Yahoo Weather on mobile devices globally starting in May.

Samsung and Yahoo have partnered since 2007. The expansion of this relationship will give millions more Samsung device owners access to Yahoo's mobile services.

Mobile Marketer?s Giselle Tsirulnik interviewed Cory Pforzheimer, spokesman at Yahoo, Sunnyvale, CA.  Here is what he had to say:

What is the news here?
Yahoo and Samsung announced a strategic global partnership to distribute Yahoo's industry-leading services on millions of Samsung mobile devices ? including those running Samsung bada and Android platforms.

Samsung will distribute Yahoo services, including Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo homepage, Yahoo Search, Yahoo Flickr, Yahoo News, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Contacts, Yahoo Calendar and Yahoo Weather.

What is the strategy behind extending this partnership?
The expansion of this relationship will enable tens of millions of Samsung device owners to easily access Yahoo's leading services.

Partnering with OEMs and carriers to help distribute Yahoo?s products and services is an important part of our mobile strategy.

With more than 100 partnerships with leading carriers and OEMs globally, we?re continuing to partner with the right players in the ecosystem who can help us reach the largest number of engaged users while we provide their consumers with benefits of Yahoo services that increase their engagement and enjoyment.
